YOUNGSTOWN A senior resource program in Youngstown opened its doors to the community on Wednesday for a health fair and fall festival.

Buckeye (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) PACE occupies the space where the former Rite Aid location was, located at 2701 Market Street in Youngstown.

The program aims to help older adults aged 55 and up live safe, healthy and independent lives in their homes, but still have access to care when it is needed most, often at no cost to them.

"Everything that we do is to prevent a hospital visit [or] an emergency room visit, and our job is to keep our folks aging at home where they want to be. And the best thing ever is that most of our seniors get all of our care for no cost whatsoever," said Marcy Campbell, Vice President of Marketing for Buckeye PACE.

At Wednesday's fall festival and health fair, pumpkin painting and a photo booth were some of the featured activities.

Additionally, agencies such as Adult Protective Services, vision care, closed captioning providers and home health aides were also on hand to help those in attendance access any services they may need.

"It's so important that when a PACE program opens in the community like we just did, that we're building partnerships with our senior base providers," said Campbell.

She says that it's important to work together for the community to know its resources.

In addition to its Youngstown location, a second Valley location can be found at 2154 Elm Road NE in Warren.
