A study of gun violence by the St. Elizabeth Health Center from 1994 through 1998 shows 314 suicides in Trumbull and Mahoning counties, with 160 by firearms. Men were seven times more likely to commit suicide than women. There were 339 homicides during the same period, 297 by firearms.
