Free Giant Eagle Generics List

Giant Eagle Inc. said that it would sell some commonly prescribed generic drugs for $4 and offer certain other prescription drugs for free at all 93 of its Ohio pharmacies.

The program, which started Thursday, expands on Giant Eagle's decision last week to offer free generic antibiotics commonly prescribed for children but only at stores in Columbus and Toledo, spokesman Rob Borella said. Giant Eagle announced that program after rival Meijer Inc. made the same offer at all its stores in Ohio and four other states.

Giant Eagle's expanded program is similar to one that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. rolled out in Ohio at the end of last week. Target Corp., Sears Holdings Corp.'s Kmart stores and some independent pharmacies also have discount drug plans.

To get the discount or the free medications at Giant Eagle, customers will have to provide a valid prescription along with their Giant Eagle Advantage card. Giant Eagle said the free-drug portion of its plan is for a limited time, but it did not give an ending date.
