Former Fowler Police Chief Sentence Suspended

James Martin James Martin

A former Fowler police chief won't serve any jail time for running an unsanctioned diversion program where he paddled juvenile offenders.

James Martin was originally convicted of 18 charges, but an appeals court threw out all but one of them.

On Tuesday, Martin was sentenced to 90 days in jail for dereliction of duty. However, the judge suspended the sentence.
