Warren Police Chief Recommends Suspension for Officer Kovach

Warren's Police Chief recommends a 10 day unpaid suspension for patrolman Richard Kovach.

Chief John Mandopolous found that the officer illegally searched the car of Tim Brown after he knew Brown was not the murder suspect police were seeking.

The chief also issued a written reprimand finding Kovach violated policy when he did not turn on his microphone during the stop.

The suspension will not take place until Kovach exhausts all opportunities to appeal.

Kovach became the focus of national attention after tasering a woman outside a nightclub.
