Hundreds in Ohio protest Israel's Gaza air strikes

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Hundreds have rallied in Toledo, Dayton and Cleveland to protest Israel's role in the fighting in Gaza.

The demonstrations yesterday came as Israel continued its air strikes in Gaza, targeting the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Israel launched a ground offensive tonight, sending tanks and infantry into the territory.

More than 150 people took part in a rally in downtown Dayton yesterday, and another 300 gathered at Cleveland State University. In Toledo, several hundred people flashed posters with peace messages and shouted anti-war chants near the Lucas County Courthouse.

Amjad Doumani, 1 of the Toledo rally's organizers, says Palestinians in Gaza are being massacred because of Israel's actions.

Israel says it is responding to rockets fired from Gaza by Hamas.
