Service at Stambaugh to celebrate life of Amya Monserrat

 Family and friends will gather Wednesday to celebrate the life of 15-year-old Amya Monserrat who died from a gunshot wound at a party on Youngstown's Southside earlier this month.

Visitation hours will be on April 26 from 10 a.m. to noon, and a Celebration of the Life of Amya Monserrat is scheduled to follow the visitation at noon. Both will be held at Stambaugh Auditorium which can be found at 1000 Fifth Ave. in Youngstown.

Everyone in attendance is expected to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Amya was a freshman at Valley Christian High School. She had several hobbies including doing hair, cheerleading, dancing and spending time with her siblings.

Donations for the family can be sent to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. Flowers can be sent to the family and donators can choose to plant a tree in her memory. Those options are available on the obituary for Monserrat through the funeral home which is linked here.
