LISBON, Ohio - The One-Stop Workforce Center of Columbiana County is now accepting applications for jobs that are being subsidized in part with $200,000 in federal funds.

In order to qualify for the program, a job seeker must be a Columbiana County resident and have a household annual income of, or less than, 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline (FPG). As an example, for a family of four the FPG would be $44,100. For a family of two, the number would be $29,140. Job seekers should visit the One-Stop, located behind the Lisbon Post Office at 7860 Lincole Place, to complete an application for each job for which they are applying. Experience is required for each of the listed jobs. At present, applications are being taken for:

• Body Shop Technician

• Groundskeeper

• Accounting Clerk

• Landscaping Laborer

• Bookkeeper

• Receptionist

• Computer Programmer

• Secretary

• Warehouse Worker

• Chef

• General Laborer

• Equipment Mechanic

• Web Editor

• Facilities Maintenance Assistant

For this program the One-Stop will assemble the applications, matching them with the job description, and forward them to the prospective employer. After review, the employer will select the applicants for interviews. Once a candidate has been selected by the employer, he or she must meet with CAA Housing Department staff to have eligibility certified.

Applicants should not require on-the-job training.

Jessica Borza of One Stop said the more information applicants provide, the better.

"They'd need the details of their work history and education and certificates. They can fill out an application. If they have a resume, that's always great to attach to the application as well," Borza said.

All funding for the program ends Sept. 30, 2010, thus there is no guarantee employers will continue to employ the newly hired employee after that date.
