COLUMBUS, Ohio - A new law in Ohio creates an alert program to spread information for missing law enforcement officers and people suspected of seriously hurting or killing officers.
It's called the Blue Alert program and it's similar to the Amber Alert system used to share information about children who go missing.
The new system would help the government as well as radio and television broadcasters publicize information such as the suspect's description or circumstances of an officer's disappearance.
The chairman of the Ohio House Public Safety Committee said the measure should improve safety and help bring people to justice if they hurt members of law enforcement.
