WAMPUM, Pennsylvania - One person was hospitalized after a two-car crash in Lawrence County.

It took place around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Clyde Street and Route 18 in the boro of Wampum, Pennsylvania.

Police say a car pulled from Clyde Street into the intersection striking the driver's side of a south-bound vehicle on Route 18.

The impact caused that second vehicle to slam into a metal utility pole.

The driver was trapped for a short time until rescue crews could extricate him from the wreckage.

He was taken by helicopter to a hospital. No word on his identification or condition.

The woman driving the other car refused medical treatment.
