CANFIELD, Ohio - Columbia Gas customers in Canfield will receive new meter devices coming this fall.

Starting in September, work will begin on the automated meter reading device (AMR) installation program.  The work is expected to end by November and Columbia Gas of Ohio says in a release that the cutting edge technology will eliminate every-other-month estimated meter readings.  Access to inside meters will no longer be needed for meter readings following the installation.

Columbia will be installing the AMRs at no direct cost to the property owners at approximately 3,600 properties.  Columbia Gas of Ohio says normal installation takes around 20 minutes and does not disrupt service.  Customers will receive advance information via postcard when their device will be installed.  The work will be done outside at the meter.  Customers with inside meters will be provided with a contact number to make arrangements to have the work done.

Columbia Gas of Ohio reminds customers that all Columbia employees and contractors carry identification cards bearing their name, photograph and identification number and will be happy to show it.
