AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - A place that may hold fond memories for generations is destined for the wrecking ball.
The Austintown Board of Education has sold the old middle school property on Mahoning Avenue to LRC Development Co., LLC for $2.5-million.
The new owner plans to demolish the building and turn the land into a commercial development.
"Once again, here's another project coming to Austintown because people see what's happening and taking place in our community," says Austintown Township trustee, Jim Davis.
The school closed in 2007. It is the original Fitch High School built in 1916.
