YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A man dedicated to reviving Youngstown's inner city is also helping some of our valley's bravest.

The founder of Inner City Garden has donated $300 to the Wounded Warrior project, an initiative to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

Mason Carratt presented the check to the Commander of the American Legion Post 472 in Youngstown.

Carratt has spearheaded efforts to grow gardens on vacant, blighted city lots.

The commander says every dollar helps a wounded veteran in need. "It's very important because it helps other veterans who are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan who have wounds.".said Bob Raver, Commander of American Legion Post 472.

Because the area does not have a local representative, the post will make sure the donation is forwarded to the Wounded Warrior Project.
