Man accused of giving Ind. infant STD found guilty
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - An Ohio man accused of infecting a 6-month-old girl with venereal disease has been found guilty of child molesting and attempted child molesting.
The Star Press reports 25-year-old Bryan Michael Strickler of Streetsboro, Ohio, was found guilty Friday by Judge Kimberly Dowling in a bench trial.
Authorities allege Strickler and his then-girlfriend, Ashley Lynn Stapert, sexually assaulted a 6-month-old girl while staying at the Muncie apartment of the infant's mother in December 2011. A molesting charge is pending against Stapert, who testified during Stickler's trial.
Attorney Sam Beasley said during closing remarks there was no medical testimony that showed his client had genital warts, the STD the baby has been diagnosed with.
Strickler is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 16. Each conviction carries a standard 30-year prison term.
