BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - He's a man who dominated local news in the valley for decades but you haven't heard much from him lately.

On Friday, 21 News caught up with former Congressman James Traficant who spoke at a luncheon in Brookfield.

He spoke to the "Over the Hill Gang" at the Brookfield community hall.

When asked what he thought was the big issue facing America today. He said immigration.

"I think they should be thrown the hell out and not given citizenship. This isn't immigration folks this is illegal immigration," said Traficant.

He added, "I think it's just become a political football where both parties are catering to a growing minority vote looking to maintain some majorities in Washington by getting these votes."

In fact many of his opinions were very much to the right, politically. For Instance, he says the current tax code is killing jobs.

"It rewards dependency, penalizes achievement, subsidizes illegitimacy and creates a permanent underclass in this country."

We asked him what's been keeping him busy the last couple of years.

He said he's been doing speaking engagements around the nation and he's been painting, but many of his fans still say he's a true artist when he's got a microphone and an audience.
