Nearly 40 years after returning home from serving in the Vietnam War, one of our Valley's bravest was recognized for his service to our country.

Mike Erro served 10 months in Vietnam and was discharged in 1969 with the rank of specialist 4. He earned six medals in the Army, but for some reason, Erro never received those medals.

With help from Senator Sherrod Brown's office, in a special pinning ceremony on Thursday, he received a Purple Heart, a National Defense Service Medal, a Combat Infantry Man Badge, the Vietnam Service medal and bronze star attachment, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with device and the Sharpshooter Badge, Auto Rifle Bar, and Machine Gun Bar.

We'll have more on this story Sunday morning on WFMJ Weekend Today including reaction from Erro and his family.
