A Boardman woman is free on bond after appearing in court to answer charges filed for allegedly biting her 12-year-old son and assaulting two police officers.

With tears in her eyes, 41-year-old Melissa Ann Riddick appeared before a judge in Boardman on Monday. She is charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated menacing, domestic violence and obstructing official business.

She was arrested on Saturday at her Carter Circle apartment, where her twelve year old son showed officers a bite mark on his arm.

Riddick's 22-year-old son also told police that he had been arguing with his mom.

Police say the woman tried to bite one them and kicked one of the officers as she was being arrested.

They also say that Riddick threatened to kill one of the officers.

According to the police report, Riddick attempted to kick out the window of the cruiser, and repeatedly struck her head against the interior of the vehicle.

Riddick is free on $18,000 bond.
