AKRON, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio man has been convicted of killing his girlfriend's parents with a sledgehammer 10 days after he stabbed and critically injured their daughter for refusing him sex.
Twenty-year-old Shawn Ford Jr. was convicted Wednesday in Akron of aggravated murder and other charges in the April 2013 deaths of Margaret and Jeffrey Schobert of New Franklin.
The jury will now decide whether to recommend the death penalty or life in prison.
Ford's attorney declined to comment, citing a gag order.
Prosecutors say Ford and a 14-year-old boy took a sledgehammer from the couple's garage and beat them. Prosecutors say Ford was angry they wouldn't let him visit their daughter at the hospital.
The boy, now 15, will be tried as an adult.
