Boardman business blames employee for $500,000 fraud
Detectives are investigating a report from a township business that it is the victim of a half million dollar fraud allegedly perpetrated by one of its own employees.
A police report filed on Monday by the owner of Simon Roofing on Karago Avenue claims that an audit turned up $538,858 worth of fictitious invoices for computer work filed by an employee who has worked there for about two and a half years.
The roofing contractor claims that the 72 invoices are from a company that was created by the employee in question.
The company says evidence of the missing money was uncovered during a routine financial analysis.
According to the report, the employee has returned $100,000 to Simon Roofing.
No charges have been filed in the case. Police continue their investigation.
