Campbell police catch suspected Craigslist thief

CAMPBELL, Ohio - Good detective work led to the arrest of Kevonte Jordan, 20, of 61 Oxford Street on Tuesday by Campbell police.
Jordan was wanted on two warrants for theft, one involving a Playstation 4, the other an X box.
Police said Jordan would use an app on his phone to disguise his phone number, when attempting to buy the game consoles through Craigslist. By using the app, a fake number would pop up on the receiving end of the call.
"When they would arrive there they would do this business transaction that was agreed to ahead of time, monetary wise on Criagslist and for the exchange of the items they would meet on the street. And when he saw the items and had them on hand, in one case, he told the person he was buying the product of off they had a flat tire. When they checked, he took off running with the product," said Rob Vukovich, with Campbell police.
Jordan used a home on Regent Street in Campbell to make the deals.
One of the victims traveled over two hours for the exchange. Once they arrived, Jordan took the device and acted like he was going to go in the house and get the the money for it. Instead, police say he just went around the back of the house and ran away.
Campbell detectives were able to trace Jordan's phone number through the app, gaining his email information, and eventually a physical address.
Robbin Perry, the owner of the Regent Street home, can't believe this was going on while they were probably in the house the whole time.
"I have no idea why he did it. He did it twice that we know of, it could have been more than that. I'm just glad they caught him," said Perry.
Police followed footprints from the home to a home on the next street.
That's where they eventually arrested Jordan at this home on Oxford street.
Jordan is currently out on bond until his scheduled court date on Friday.
