Cedar Point nears completion of historic hotel's renovation
SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - Cedar Point's historic Hotel Breakers will be ready to reopen next month along the shores of Lake Erie, after an extensive renovation over the winter.
The 110-year-old hotel that sits next to the amusement park in Sandusky will have a new entryway and lobby.
Much of the original, historic center of the hotel was stripped bare over the winter and redone with new rooms and furnishings.
Cedar Point isn't saying how much the project cost.
But a spokesman tells The Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/1yAmVGF ) newspaper in Cleveland that the price tag is the biggest single capital investment in the park's history, topping the $25 million it spent on its 400-foot roller coaster in 2003.
The park says the renovation reduced the numbers of rooms, from 650 to just over 500.
