Scrappers beat Dobledays 3-0

It was a pitcher's dual throughout.
Heading into the top of the ninth, the Scrappers (28-33) and Doubledays (27-34) were in a 0-0 tie. The Scrappers finished with a 3-0 victory.
Luis Torres (5-1) retired Willi Castro and Jodd Carter for the first two outs of the top of the ninth. Ka'ai Tom followed with a single to right, and advanced to second on an error by Darryl Florentino in right.
Torres walked Daniel Salters.
Nate Winfrey worked a full count, and worked a two-out walk to load the bases.
Connor Marabell had two strikes on him with two outs, and ripped a bases-clearing triple down the right field line to give Mahoning Valley a 3-0 lead.
Billy Strode earned his second save in the bottom of the ninth.
Marabell's triple was the main storyline, but Jared Robinson went six scoreless innings and allowed just two hits. Robinson has now tossed 24.2 scoreless innings. Robinson lowered his ERA to 2.51, which places him now fourth best in the New York-Penn League.
Tom's single in the ninth extended his hit streak to eight games, which ties his season high.
The Scrappers are 2-3 against the Doubledays this season, and look to tie the season series on Wednesday night. The loss for Auburn and the win for Williamsport officially eliminated Auburn from playoff contention.
Kieran Lovegrove takes the hill against lefty Grant Borne for Auburn at 7:05 in the rubber match on Wednesday night at Falcon Park.
