A teenager found fatally shot in a South Side neighborhood is remembered as good person who showed a lot of promise.

Detectives are investigating the death of sixteen-year-old Devon Bailey, whose body was found on the first floor of a home on the 500 block of Cohasset Drive Wednesday evening.

Police say he had been shot in the chest.

Bailey, who most recently attended East High School, graduated from the eighth grade at Stambaugh Charter Academy last year.

P.J. Fields, who was the Middle School Dean when Bailey attended Stambaugh, remembers the former student as someone with a great personality and outstanding basketball skills.  Dean Fields says Bailey had hopes of someday playing for Oregon or another school at the college level.

"He was a good kid, he was funny, he loved to do his work, a happy kid who was respectful and helpful, he did whatever you asked him to do. Another good kid gone to soon,"  said teacher Jen Appugliese.

His former basketball coach at Stambaugh, David Clark, says Bailey was a skilled player who had dreams of one day playing at the college level.

Police say there are no leads on any suspects in the case.
