Contract talks to resume at ArcelorMittal

PITTSBURGH - The United Steelworkers Union says contract talks will resume next week with management of ArcelorMittal, which employs more than 13,000 hourly workers at 11 locations around the U.S, including Warren.
The union says company officials walked away from the bargaining table a week and a half ago after the USW bargaining committee says it proposed a contact that would maintain member benefits.
The union accuses ArcelorMittal of demanding concessions on vacation pay, incentive pay, sickness and accident benefits and transfer rights.
ArcelorMittal operates a coke plant on Main Ave. SW in Warren.
The union says members will take part in actions at ArcelorMittal plants on Wednesday to demand what union leaders say is a fair contract.
Workers have remained on the job under terms of the old contract even after the previous labor agreement expired on September 1.
