Lordstown UAW workers learn more about tentative GM contract

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - UAW Lordstown autoworkers will learn more about a tentative contract with General Motors
Lordstown High School hosted an informational meeting to go over the fine print for members of Local 1714 at 10:00 a.m.
UAW Local 1112 will meet at 2:00 p.m.
Union members will be asked to vote on the national contract later this week.
Some of the highlights of the four year deal unveiled in Detroit last week, including phasing out the tier wage system.
Traditional members will see a three percent wage hike the first and third years of the contract, with lump sum payments during the other two.
All employees would get an $8,000 signing bonus.
Retirees will receive a $500 gift card and access to legal services.
“We do have some meetings setup, it's called rollout meetings. So the membership will be able to attend those and ask questions. But truly we believe that the agreement will sell itself,” said bob morales, uaw local 1714.
Members will vote on the contract Thursday and Friday
