Mahoning County Sheriff's cruiser crashes
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has cited a Mahoning County Sheriff’s Deputy whose patrol vehicle slid off an icy road and hit a house in Canfield Township.

CANFIELD TWP., Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol has cited a Mahoning County Sheriff’s Deputy whose patrol vehicle slid off an icy road and hit a house in Canfield Township.
Troopers cited Deputy Marcella Walter for failure to control her cruiser after it went off Western Reserve Road near Detwiler Road at around 6:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve.
Deputy Walter was responding to an injury accident at Western Reserve and Tippecanoe Roads at the time of the crash.
Investigators say the cruiser’s lights were flashing and the sirens were activated when Walter lost control of the vehicle on an icy bridge.
The car struck two mailboxes and a house.
Deputy Walter was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with injuries that troopers say are not life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
