PITTSBURGH - The Niles Giant Eagle location is among those included in a voluntary recall of Giant Eagle brand New Year's Pretzels.
All lots of the pretzels have been recalled by the company because of an undeclared walnut allergen.
The product label for the New Year’s Pretzels, which contain walnuts, omitted walnuts as an allergen. People, who have an allergy, or severe sensitivity to walnuts, run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The product is safe for consumption by those who do not have walnut allergies.
According to Giant Eagle, nearly 23,000 of the pretzels were sold at several of its locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio including the location at 48 Vienna Avenue in Niles.
Customers with a walnut allergy who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their local Giant Eagle or Market District store for a refund. Customers with questions may call Giant Eagle Customer Care at 1-800-553-2324 Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST.
