Authorities have confirmed the identity of a woman shot to death at her Trumbull County home Sunday night.

Trumbull County Sheriff Tom Altiere tells 21 News that Janell Green was allegedly shot by her husband, who is being held in the county jail on a murder charge.

Fifty-nine-year-old David Ricky Green was arrested after Trumbull County 9-1-1 received a call shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The male caller claimed that he had just fatally shot his wife with a shotgun on the 2500 block of Wakefield Creek Road Northeast in Green Township.

The dispatcher reported that the caller spoke in a calm voice, claiming he shot the victim as she was sitting in a chair.

He said the shotgun was now on a couch and he would not pick it up again.

The suspect said he would be waiting for deputies when they arrived.

First responders from local fire departments responded to a nearby location until deputies on the scene could determine that it was safe for them to come to the location, which sits back from the road.

In investigator from the Trumbull County Coroner’s office and agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation have been notified.
