A Warren man is in the Trumbull County jail after a pursuit that involved four law enforcement agencies, lasted for thirteen minutes, and covered fifteen miles at speeds up to ninety miles per hour.

State Troopers say that 38-year-old Theotis Michael Sanders refused to stop when they tried to pull his car over for a traffic violation on State Route 45 in Champion Friday night.

Trooper pursued the Cadillac into Southington Township, where the car’s right front tire was shredded when it ran over spike sticks deployed by police.

Investigators say Sanders kept driving onto Route 422, traveling east into Warren Township and eventually the City of Warren.

The patrol says speeds slowed as the pursued vehicle entered a residential area.    That’s when the Caddy rammed an OSP cruiser.

The trooper used the patrol car to make contact with the Cadillac, disabling it at Parkman Road and Union Street.

The driver jumped out of the car and ran away.  After a foot pursuit through the neighborhood, Sanders was subdued using a Taser.

Sanders was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into jail on charges of felonious assault, failure to comply with the order of police, driving while under the influence, and driving with a suspended or canceled license.

He’s being held without bond pending an appearance in Warren Municipal Court on Monday.

After the chase, troopers searched the area of Helsey Fusselman Road and Route 422 where authorities believe the driver threw something from the window of the car during the pursuit.

There’s no word on if anything was found.

In addition to the Highway Patrol, officers from the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department as well as Champion Township and Warren Police were involved in the chase.
