YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says it appears dozens of dead crows found Saturday along Interstate 680 in Youngstown were struck by cars.

However, ODNR spokesperson Jamey Emmert tells 21 News that the carcasses have been sent to an out-of-state lab for further tests.

Passers-by spotted the carcasses of the large black birds along the north bound lane near Midlothian Boulevard on Saturday.

As part of the effort to follow-up on reports of any possible wildlife diseases, an ODNR Wildlife official gathered some of the birds.

ODNR expects to receive results of the lab tests on four to six weeks.

Emmert says there have not been any other reports of unusual or questionable bird deaths outside the Youngstown area so it appears to be localized.
