BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A student was removed from Brookfield Middle School Wednesday morning after bringing a weapon in his book bag.
According to a police report, a gym teacher said he overheard the 13-year-old tell another student he had the weapon in his locker and not to tell anyone.
Administrators searched the sixth-graders belongings and found a 19-inch machete.
The student's parents were notified and took him home. Robo calls went out to parents around 1 p.m. There was no lockdown or evacuation of the school.
Superintendent Tim Saxton said there were no threats made by the student.
The Brookfield Police Department said they handed the information to the prosecutor's office to decide if they should press charges.
