A Youngstown man is in jail after an alleged shoplifting attempt erupted into a scuffle at the Boardman clothing store where he once worked.

Police say 23-year-old Terrance Bratton of Youngstown took several items into the fitting room of Gabriel Brothers on Route 224.

Employees tell police when they attempted to stop Bratton from leaving the store without paying, he resisted and got into a fight with security guards.

Although the guards say Bratton tried to escape several times, they managed to hold him until police arrived.

According to the police report, Bratton had concealed hoodies, socks and sandals worth more than $100.

Bratton is charged with one count of robbery and was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

He was arraigned Tuesday morning in Boardman court.
