A sheriff's deputy was assaulted by a Mahoning County jail inmate Friday morning, and it was recorded on surveillance video.
Lucky Mitchell, is confined to a disciplinary pod of the jail, but is allowed out of his cell one hour each day.
Around 10:15 a.m., Mitchell asked deputy Anthony Lucas to check the computer for his next court date.
The video then shows Mitchell approaching the deputy from behind, holding a noose made out of a t-shirt.
Investigators say when Mitchell placed the noose around the deputy's neck, an intense struggle and fight took place.
Lucas was able to get his arms around Mitchell's head, as the two struggle for about 30 seconds until the deputy is able to pop open a door,
That's when a couple other inmates arrived in to help pull Mitchell from Lucas and restrain Mitchell until the officer regains his composure and places his attacker in handcuffs.
Deputy Lucas had a few bumps and bruises, but has been cleared to return to work on Monday.
Mitchell has been in the jail since June 25 on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene says he does not believe there is any connection to this attack and what happened Thursday night in Dallas.
Still, it's a stark reminder for law enforcement of just how dangerous their jobs can be.
