A new principal is set to roam the halls of Boardman's Stadium Drive Elementary in the upcoming school year.

Mike Zoccali's hiring was approved unanimously during a special Wednesday night school board meeting.

In taking the Stadium Drive job, Zoccali is returning to the district where his career began more than a decade and a half ago.

His first job after graduating from Youngstown State University in 2000 was as a long-term substitute at Boardman's Glenwood Middle School.

Zoccali then spent 2001 through 2013 as a teacher for Austintown Local Schools.  

The last three years have seen Zoccali work as an assistant principal at both Austintown Middle and Intermediate Schools.  

About his new position, the Westminster College masters recipient said, "I am excited about the opportunity to help build upon the tradition of excellence that is the Boardman Local Schools."  

The first day of classes at Stadium Drive Elementary will be on August 29th.
