PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a 35-year-old father of six has been killed and his 40-year-old wife critically injured in shootings during a home invasion in Philadelphia.

Police say the incident took place in the city's Hunting Park section about 1 a.m. Monday.

Police say none of the children were hurt though all were at home at the time, and some were in the bedroom where the couple was shot.

Police believe the intruders entered the home through a kitchen window then demanded money from the couple in an upstairs bedroom before opening fire.

The wounded woman is the step mother of the man's children, who range in age from 5 to 13. She was shot in the jaw area and being treated at Temple University Hospital.

Investigators found a mask, shotgun and ammunition nearby.
