A man in prison for a deadly shooting in Solon now faces charges in the Valley.

Police say 29-year-old Matthew Desha murdered Debbie Pearl from Twinsburg earlier this week with an AR 15 rifle after crashing into her car.

Desha was indicted by a Mahoning County Grand jury Thursday on charges of improperly handling a firearm, possession of drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

Desha was pulled over in May for numerous traffic violations along West Boulevard and Route 224 in Boardman.

Officers then found a handgun and drug paraphernalia in his Jeep. He was later jailed, arraigned on the charges, then released.

Records show Desha served two tours in Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps and received treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

And Desha told North Ridgeville police in 2011 about his PTSD diagnosis and they were asked to check on him two years later after he stopped attending PTSD group therapy sessions at a Department of Veterans Affairs clinic.

Solon police say there's no indication that Desha and Pearl knew each other.
