Valley veterans gathered in Austintown Tuesday for a town hall discussion of veteran’s issues with Sixth District Congressman Bill Johnson.

Veterans from all branches of the military voiced concerns over various issues including healthcare, housing and the need for additional mental health professionals.

Johnson, who served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, says with the problem of post-traumatic stress disorder and veteran suicides more held is needed.

"We're bringing back today's veterans, today's warriors, from the battlefield with conditions that years ago they might not have even survived in the first place and they're coming back with a lot of mental stress," Johnson said.

The congressman said the VA is the largest government department with the largest budget, so there is no excuse for not providing the best care for our veterans.
