POLAND, Ohio - Ordinances in the village of Poland regarding dog tethering and the number of dogs one could own were put on hold due to a possible legal action against the village.
Animal advocate Jason Cooke tells 21 News that this is the fifth time he has addressed village council about the ordinances.
Cooke says he was led to believe council would begin to move those ordinances through the legislation process.
According to Cooke, village officials said they would put both items on hold due to any possible legal consequence.
Once Cooke made it clear their would be no legal action, the village dropped the proposal for the limit on the number of dogs.
Instead, they will enforce current laws regarding dogs to keep those with multiple dogs responsible.
Cooke says the village received hundreds of emails from multiple dog owners.
The ordinance for tethering will now have it's first reading December 20th, and talks will continue to remove Pit Bulls from the list of dangerous dogs.
