Austintown prostitution sting results in arrest

AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - Austintown police have made their second arrest in recent weeks as the department investigates alleged prostitution being advertised in the online classified site, Backpage.com.
Officers arrested Latroy McMillian, 22, of Warren in the parking lot of a hotel on Route 46 Tuesday afternoon, charging him with solicitation and possessing criminal tools.
Police say they answered a posting in the transsexual escort section of Backpage from “TS Tommie Pleasures”.
The headline of the ad read, “Welcome to paradise, dreams do come true.”
A police officer, acting undercover, called the number in the ad and agreed to a price of $150, arranging to meet at the hotel.
The officer says “Tommie” said he would bring lubrication and condoms, which along with the cell phone used to take the call, would be used as the basis of the criminal tools charge filed against McMillian.
Police arrested McMillian as soon as he identified himself as “Tommie” in the motel lobby.
According to the police report, McMillian said that he had been involved in prostitution for only a short time, with just a few clients in order to pay his bills.
A search of Backpage listings showed several postings linked to McMillian's phone number over the past year, according to police.
McMillian was arraigned in Mahoning County Court and faces another hearing in January.
Last month, Austintown police arrested a North Lima woman who they say solicited sex on an online classified website.
