WARREN, Ohio - People living in  hundreds of homes in the East Market Street area of Warren and Howland woke up in the dark Thursday morning after being hit by a power outage.


Warren police called FirstEnergy after neighbors reported that a transformer blew out in the area of Broadway Avenue SE and Northwood Dr. SE.


According to FirstEnergy, approximately 1,300 customers are affected by the outage which was reported shortly after 5 a.m.


Most of the outage is in Warren.  Fewer than 100 homes and businesses in Howland are without power.

Electricity was restored after approximately one and a half hours.
