AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - A continuing prostitution sting conducted by Austintown Police resulted in the arrests of two people who told officers that they took their customer's money without having sex.
Abbigail McGhee, 23, is accused of posting 88 advertisements using the name “Amber” to solicit sex. Police say they found all of those on the website “backpage.com.”
Officers responded to McGhee's post, arranging for an hour of service for $200.
After she sent officers photos of herself, they were able to identify her by her real name due to past solicitation incidents, reports say.
Officers met and arrested McGhee near State Route 46 and Clarkins Drive on June 20.
Police say admitted to setting up dates and stealing money before performing any sexual act.
She is charged with soliciting and possession of criminal tools. The criminal tool is identified as her cell phone.
In a separate incident on June 21, police arrested a man alleged of using backpage.com for prostitution. Tiquan Turner, 21, is charged with soliciting sex and criminal tools. Police accuse turner of advertising himself with explicit photos under the psuedonym “Kyle.”
His advertisement allegedly listed a variety of services ranging in price from $60 to $150 for specified periods of time, according to a police report. Officers responded to the post by texting “Kyle” and arranging a time to meet.
When officers met “Kyle” on Interstate Boulevard, they say he was initially uncooperative, only telling police he was not gay. Eventually, police identified “Kyle” as Turner and arrested him.
Officers say Turner admitted to using backpage.com, but never engaged with sexual activity, saying he only took their money and ran.
