You might consider it the last place your car windows would be smashed and your purse or wallet was stolen.

But a gang of thieves made their rounds to area soccer fields, including the Austintown Junior Soccer Field on Ohltown Road and the soccer field at Poland Township Park on Moore Road.

Poland Township Police Chief Brian Goodin says detectives from both police departments are working together to investigate, "On Sunday afternoon between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm we had a soccer tournament going on at our township park.  When the people went back to their cars we found about seven cars with their windows broken out and items were taken out of their purses and wallets, including credit cards, checks and stuff like that."

For one victim the losses have reached $4,000 and detectives say the thieves make it their job to bleed you dry.

In surveillance video captured at the Austintown soccer field, there is a video of a grayish sedan that police say is suspected of being part of the soccer field car break-ins and thefts.

It's believed the group responsible has not only committed crimes in Austintown and Poland but Canton and Wooster in the past few days.  They're also suspected of being the same group that has hit the Field of Dreams several times in Boardman Township according to several sources.

Detectives have also released the photo of a woman they believe is a "person of interest" in the case, and they're hoping that someone can help identify her.

Poland Township Police Detective Greg Wilson tells 21 News, "She's suspected of trying to cash several checks actually as late as yesterday we have her in Boardman and in Canfield attempting to cash checks."

Wilson says they steal the checks from one community and then travel to a bank in another community to try and cash them while even using the victim's identification.

Police say the group is global, they are very organized and they work in teams.  Authorities also believe they use stolen license plates to make it more difficult to be caught.

The group is also known to work with a lookout and will cause a distraction when police arrive and can even become violent if they fear they're caught.

If you have any information on "person of interest" or anyone involved in the soccer car break-ins and thefts call the Austintown Tip Line:  (330) 270-5108 or Poland Township Police:  (330) 757-8033 ext. 123.  Poland Detective Wilson says their department can often provide a REWARD if you offer TIPS that lead to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of a suspect.
