CAMPBELL, Ohio - Police said a pitbull is still on the loose after trying to attack a police officer and almost biting a man several times Monday morning.

Two Campbell Officers were called to 13th Street after a call about a dog trying to bite a man.

The man wasn't hurt, but the officer said the dog charged him in an aggressive manner. The officer then fired a shot that missed as the dog jumped, according to the report. The dog took off running towards Moore Drive after trying to bite the officer in the left thigh.

Police did not catch the dog, but police said Jeannie Wigfall, the dog owner, was aware that the dog was on the loose.

Wigfall was issued a citation for dogs running at large and is scheduled to appear at the Campbell Municipal Court this Friday.
