A Benign Thursday Before The Heat Cranks Up
Thursday can get underway on a cloudy and perhaps damp note but improvement is in store for the afternoon hours. Clouds are expected to decrease and temperatures will top out in the upper 70s. It will be the last relatively comfortable day for a while!
High pressure will slide across the Ohio Valley on Friday and the result will be a day filled with sunshine. Temperatures will rise quickly and by the late afternoon readings will approach 90 degrees. The weekend is still expected to be oppressive with heat index values not far from 100 degrees.
We do not anticipate much relief next week. A very warm pattern is likely to stick around for the 4th of July and beyond.
It's a week away but confidence is high that we will have a hot 4th of July this year. Probably around the 90 degree mark...our warmest Independence Day since 2012. pic.twitter.com/l5X0OrLz98
