WARREN, Ohio - The state is looking for someone to open up a new liquor store in a Warren neighborhood after state agents took liquor from a business on West Market Street.
Lindsey LeBerth, a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Commerce, says the division is seeking applicants for a new contract liquor agency.
"The division wants to ensure residents have access to the spirituous liquor products they want and a need was still identified in that area for an agency," LeBerth said.
Just last week, agents from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control seized all the bottles of alcohol at Bootlegger Liquor and revoked the business contract from the store.
The seizure took place after evidence was uncovered that some employees were allegedly buying liquor from the store and submitting the receipts to an app that allowed users to earn cash rebates for certain purchases. The workers would then allegedly return the liquor to the store.
