Hundreds pack Southern Park Mall for 'pay your age' Build-A-Bears
A promotional event for a popular children's toymaking store caused quite the bustle Thursday.

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - A promotional event for a popular children's toymaking store caused quite the bustle Thursday.
Build-A-Bear Workshop, a national retail chain that allows children and families to build their own stuffed animal, offered a "Pay Your Age" promotion.
The event allowed kids to pay the dollar amount of their age for a bear, some of which can cost more than $20.
The one-day-only event quickly went viral online, and here in the Valley. During the day Thursday, the Build-A-Bear location at the Southern Park Mall had a line that wrapped through the mall's center court, food court, and all the way outside.
As the crowd waited, the national retailer announced that they were abruptly ending the promotion just before noon.
An email sent out to customers announced that due to safety concerns the lines at all locations were being closed.
The email read:
"Per local authorities, we cannot accept guests at our U.S. Build-A-Bear Workshop locations due to crowds and safety concerns.
We have closed lines in our U.S. stores. We understand some of our guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible."
Build-A-Bear reminded customers on their social media pages that their Count Your Candles program is available to Bonus Club members all year long and allows children under 14 to pay their age for the special Birthday Treat Bear during the month of their birthday.
