BOARDMAN, Ohio - A one-car crash claimed the life of a man in Boardman Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Glen Parker died at the hospital following the crash that happened around 2:30 p.m. on Shields Road.

Police told 21 News witnesses told them the driver was trying to pass another vehicle while in a no-passing zone.

They said as the vehicle was passing, another vehicle was coming in the opposite direction.

The driver then went off the road to the left to avoid the oncoming vehicle, hit a tree, a pole and then ended up in a ditch, according to police.

Police said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and died. The passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation.
