CAMPBELL, Ohio - Ground will be broken today for a project Campbell City School officials hope will become a model for training the Valley's workforce of tomorrow by training qualified job candidates.

Officials will be on hand this afternoon near the Cambpell K-7 School on Route 616 for a ceremony that marks the start of construction of the Community Literacy Workforce & Cultural Center (CLWCC).

The facility will be open year-round, using public and private resources to provide college and career readiness programming, apprenticeship programs, workforce training and adult re-entry services.

The CLWCC's services will be available not only students in the district, but members of the community as well.

School Superintendent Matthew Bowen says the project is the culmination of nearly two years of local community and regional conversations and collaborations, led by Campbell City Schools in partnership with numerous community, business and higher education partners.

"Multiple partners with a shared vision have created a model program and opportunity center to positively impact our region's economy,” said Bowen. “Together we will recruit and retain talent here in our tri-county area which will grow a ready workforce through a unique approach encouraging future business and industry to choose our region as a solution for employment demands."
