LISBON, Ohio -

Lisbon Blue Devils | Players: 40 | Offense: 5 | Defense: 7 | Seniors: 10

Lisbon is one of 12 schools in the viewing area that hired a new head coach for the upcoming season.

The players are buying into a new system but will look to continue the Lisbon tradition.

This year we're looking at the kids that just continue the Lisbon tradition.  We've changed up the offense and defense this year. So it's about the kids buying into the program that's ahead of them right now." said coach Alan Mikovich.

After winning six of its first seven games, Lisbon would go on to lose it's final four games.  Mikovich has stressed to this group early the importance of finishing strong.

"Last year, we felt they didn't finish the season the way they needed to, so that's been the emphasis since we took over. It's about finishing strong in everything we do.  Whether it be on of the drills, whether it be one of the sprints, or finishing the game strong. That's been our mantra so far this year."

With a new regime and brand new system in place, the new head coach will be heavily reliant on its returning starters to lead to the charge.

"Quarterback Logan Bell is returning.  Justin Sweeney, the running back, is returning, and so is Ryan McCollough. Also, some of the linemen returning are; Justin Briand, our center, and Bryce Blackburn who maybe a tight end, h-back for us this year, was a lineman last year." Mikovich said.

Through coaching, personnel and system changes, everyone has one goal in mind.

"The expectations are just to continue what Lisbon football is about.  They have a tradition here, we want to continue that tradition and we want to work toward that goal," Mikovich said.

Lisbon plays Malvern week one.
