Free rides are being offered for Lordstown citizens who are heading to the polls to vote on allowing the rezoning and construction of TJX's Distribution Center.
The special election on Tuesday, August 21 will present referenda that propose changing the zoning of three tracts of land in order to permit the construction of the TJX warehouse and distribution center.
According to a release sent out by the Cafaro Company, this is an issue that is crucially important to economic development in the village of Lordstown and surrounding communities.
In order to help people exercise their right to vote, the free transportation will be available to take voters to the polling place at the village administration building.
The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, sponsored by the Cafaro Company, will coordinate the service.
Any voter who needs a ride should contact Trumbull County Transit at 330-369-2600.
A rally has also been planned for Monday afternoon campaigning in favor of keeping the zone change in place.
It will take place at the UAW 1714 Union Hall at the picnic pavilion area from 3:15-5 pm.
"This is a positive project with 160 million dollar investment in our area and 1,000 plus jobs. They have agreed to a buffer zone to protect the neighborhood. I have the utmost respect for the nearby neighbors," said Trumbull County Commissioner Dan Polivka. "I feel with this being a warehouse and not burning or producing, anything is a good fit and will be beneficial in the long run."
